ENGIE Fabricom recently attended the annual North East Lincolnshire Skills Fair, held at Grimsby Auditorium. The Skills Fair is the largest skills and careers event in North East Lincolnshire and aims to inspire young people to make decisions regarding their future career and the skills they will need.
Approximately 1,600 year 10 students attended the event over the course of the day, visiting from 14 local academies/learning centres.
ENGIE Fabricom was situated in the dedicated STEM village alongside other local engineering companies like Orsted, BAE Systems and British Steel. Graduate Engineers, Ellis Jacklin and Rebecca Procter and Year 3 Apprentices Adam Whall and Jake Brand were on hand to give the students tips and advice on career paths into engineering.
The theme of this years’ Skills Fair was ‘Have a Go’ and exhibitors were encouraged to make their displays interactive.
ENGIE Fabricom held a competition where students competed against each other to see who could dress themselves in overalls, welding gloves and a welding mask the fastest. The winner was rewarded with a box of chocolates.
