ALARP Reviews – Why Are They So Important?
Matt Jenkins, our Process Safety Consultant has written a new article on the importance of As Low As Reasonably Practical (ALARP) theory, and why it is so important that thorough ALARP reviews are successfully completed.
Referring to the work of Ignaz Semmelweis, a Hungarian-born physician, whose work has recently been widely discussed since the outbreak of COVID-19, Matt refers to how his work could have potentially been so much different, had ALARP principles been applied. Matt also makes reference that some theoretical issues that are highlighted in the article can still be seen today.
Throughout the article, Matt has identified what ALARP principles are, how they can be applied, and why now, more than ever, it is the right time to dedicate more time to completing comprehensive ALARP reviews.
