Rebecca Steedman Awarded Certificate in Project Controls

By | Awards

Congratulations to Rebecca Steedman, Project Services Administrator at ENGIE Fabricom, for successfully completing her Project Controls programme.

The course, which is delivered in association with the ECITB, is a comprehensive programme covering all aspects of project controls spread across 8 modules.  Delivered over a 9 month period, the course concludes with a presentation to employers which was attended by Andy Hills and Mark Wingate.  Each module has three assessments which are designed to encourage the learner to find out more about how their own company carries out the aspects of project control that they are learning about and share experiences and best practice.

Andy Hills, Senior Project Services Manager for ENGIE Fabricom, commented “Rebecca has studied hard to complete this programme over the course of 2015.  Her studies have helped her to consolidate her existing capabilities whilst also developing new skills which will be of great benefit to both Rebecca personally and to us as a business moving forward. Well done Becky!”

On behalf of everyone at ENGIE Fabricom, we would like to pass on our congratulations to Rebecca for completing her course and being awarded the ECITB Certificate in Project Controls.

ENGIE Fabricom Invests in PEL Software from ABB

By | Investment

We are pleased to announce that ENGIE Fabricom has purchased PEL software from ABB Ltd. ‘PEL is a highly effective, proven, technology solution for generating and managing process engineering data. It has been developed, used and tested in a manufacturing environment to enable engineers to design processes more quickly and more reliably with up-to-date and permanently available design data.’

PEL software gives engineers the ideal toolkit:

  • Calculation tools to ensure design is carried out more quickly and more reliably
  • Datasheet management to ensure that up-to-date design data is always available
  • PEL offers programs for performing the critical process engineering calculations of fluid flow and physical properties plus a general purpose calculation package

Some the benefits of include:

  • Allowing engineers to be more efficient and productive. With fewer manual calculations to do, tasks are carried out quicker
  • Improving QA and standardising procedures, through everyone using same set of data and calculations
  • Human errors in calculations are reduced
  • Improving production as bottlenecks can be identified quickly so a solution can be sought
  • Allowing operators to get the best out of their existing assets by carrying out modifications rather than designing new ones

Sajith Mohideen (Process Engineer) who has been corresponding with ABB directly in regards to PEL conducted a technical seminar introducing the software on 11/09/15 commented that “PEL software will allow us to standardise and formulise calculations and datasheets which will result in more consistent data leaving the company.”

If there are any queries that you might have about PEL software then please do not hesitate in contacting Sajith Mohideen for further information.

By | Awards

On behalf of everyone at ENGIE Fabricom we would like to congratulate Muhammad Musa on achieving Chartered Engineer Status awarded by the IChemE.  This is a great personal achievement for Muhammad; Chartered Engineer status is an internationally recognised and respected mark of competence and demonstrates commitment to the engineering profession.

Muhammad commented “I’d like to say a big thank you to all the ENGIE Fabricom staff (especially Richard Hay and Stephen Groves) who guided me on my path to achieving a chartered status.  I would also like to encourage other engineers in the company to try and achieve the same, and to draw on the experience of others in the organisation who can give them the much needed support.”

Simon Lewis added “With Muhammad studying abroad, he has had to overcome many obstacles on his way to becoming a Chartered Engineer.  It is a great achievement for Muhammed to now be able to put CEng after his name, and very well deserved.  Well done Muhammad.”
